Not forgetting our Japanese neighbours
As the One Book Whonnock project spearheaded by Jean Davidson and Sue Adair progresses it is becoming evident that most of the participants are not aware that in pre-war years Japanese men, women, and children formed a major part of the population of Whonnock and Ruskin. If you are interested to learn more click here to read the Looking Back column "Not forgetting our Japanese neighbours" in the Maple Ridge News of December 14th. The picture shows pupils of the Ruskin school 1936-1937. Click on it to have a closer look.
